Remembering A1C Keigan J. Baker

Airman First Class Keigan J. Baker was an exceptional U.S. Air Force Special Tactics Combat Controller whose life was defined by rigorous discipline, elite athleticism, and a profound commitment to service. Born on January 14, 1996, in Longview, Washington, Keigan lived by a powerful personal motto that reflected his relentless mindset: “DIE LIVING!”

A Distinguished Military Career

  • Enlistment and Basic Training: Keigan enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in June 2018, immediately distinguishing himself by being selected as Element Leader and graduating as an Honor Graduate from Basic Training.

  • Combat Control Training Pipeline: He successfully earned a highly selective spot in the elite Air Force combat control program. In December 2019, he earned his coveted scarlet beret as a Special Tactics Combat Controller, ᴀssigned to the Special Tactics Training Squadron, 24th Special Operations Wing out of Hurlburt Field, Florida.

  • Excellence and Mentorship: Throughout his training, he consistently acted as a leader among his peers—guiding teammates through demanding physical and academic challenges at Air Traffic Control School and the Combat Control School.

Pᴀssion, Character, and Community

Before his military service, Keigan was a standout athlete and student, earning 1st team all-league football honors at Mark Morris High School before attending Eastern Washington University, where he participated in ROTC and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Known for his infectious smile, boundless kindness, and natural leadership, he constantly pushed those around him to achieve excellence.

Tragically, Keigan pᴀssed away on March 19, 2020, during training at the Air Force Combat Dive Course in Panama City, Florida.
